On Saturday, Philadelphia's TEN SPIDERS makes their local debut at the Pittsburgh Deli Company in Shadyside. Featuring Maria Cahill on banjo, a fiery 5-string player who has played with the likes of Tony Trischka, TEN SPIDERS bears a wide palette of colorful sounds, from funky blues to red-eyed grooves and a taste of everything in between.

Ten Spiders is an interesting little band from the Philadelphia area. They're an innovative acoustic rock band that will drive you to the dance floor. The band is a very tight unit, led by the husband-wife team of Maria and Steve Cahill. Maria Cahill was taught under master banjo virtuoso, Tony Trischka. She is the central songwriter in the band. Steve Cahill adds his penchant for melodic accompaniment. His bass playing is also quite superior. The duo is the guiding force of this awesome project. Chris Cotter and Mark Unruh round out the quintet on drums and guitar respectively. The word on the band is starting to spread like mayonnaise. Their grassroots style of promotion is leading them closer to the promised land. I highly recommend the band's disc entitled MIDNIGHT SNACK. Check em out!
